Euthanasia is the hardest thing about having a pet, but the majority of the times it is the most selfless act we can do for them at the end of their lives. We allow them the dignity of not suffering from terminal diseases or extreme pain.

When should I consider euthanasia?

When you feel that it is the time to euthanize your cat cannot be answered by anyone but you and your family. As pet ‘parents’ we often just know or feel that our pets tell us. Think about their quality of life; are they eating and enjoying the treats that they normally do, are they comfortable and pain-free (with or without the support of medications), are there more bad days than good?

What happens during euthanasia?

Before the euthanasia pets are sedated to help them relax and reduce stress. The euthanasia injection is an overdose of an anesthetic allowing the pet to fall asleep and then the medication stops their heart and other vital organs.

Can you stay with your cat during euthanasia?

We want you to take as much time as you need to be with your cat during the end of life process. We will explain the steps in the procedure and answer any questions that you have.
